June is a special month at our school. It is the time when the stages come alive with performances prepared by different classes.
In Waldorf education, theatre has a special place. It is not simply about putting on an end-of-year show. It is an important part of a child’s artistic, emotional, and social development. Through the shared experience of creating a performance, students learn to empathize with others, grow in confidence, use their imagination, and discover the value of working together. Each performance is more than a beautiful way to bring the school year to a close—it is also a vivid reflection of the particular stage of development the children are going through.
The end of the school year brought an especially rich and diverse range of performances. The 12th, 7th, and 8th grades presented their performances on the student stage of the Hamazgayin Theatre. The lively little ones from Grade 2, 5th graders, brought their own special energy to the Small Theatre stage. Grade 10b presented “The Human Comedy” in English, while Grade 10a deeply moved us with its performance of The Choristers. And in the heart of summer, Grade 8b filled the stage of Bohem Theatre with the spirit of Shakespeare.
But perhaps the most touching of all was “Sanasar and Baghdasar”, performed by our therapeutic pedagogical group students.
