Trndez at Aregnazan

Trndez is the festivity to celebrate the end of winter and marking the beginning of  long-anticipated spring. Having spiritual, ritual, national and cultural significance, it is also considered to be the symbol of fertility.

Everybody at Aregnazan is looking forward to February to celebrate Trndez according to long-cherished traditions. We prepare for the celebration fondly, spicing it with folk dances and songs.

Two bonfires were lit this year: one in the heart of the city and the other on the site in Kasakh where our new school is to be built.

Skillful tightrope walkers were invited to more enliven the festivity with their tricks and games. Everybody jumped over the fires spreading joy and bliss all around.

See the smoke whirling around-it’s Trndez,

You will reap more than you sow- it’s Trndez,

See the smoke twirling around.

May  you harvest all year round-it’s Trndez.
